Interior High Notes: Residential wonders in Atlanta, Whistler, Milan and more in Karno.in.ua's September 2019 issue!

Part of what makes Milan Design Week an inspiring destination year after year is seeing the world’s latest and greatest designs set against the backdrop of some of Milan’s most historic buildings and landmarks.

Palazzo Litta was one such site during this year’s festivities, which ran from April 4 to 9. The Baroque building, which dates back to 1761, was the venue for A Matter of Perception, an exhibition presented by Mosca Partners and DAMN magazine that invited a suite of international designers, architects and brands to enliven the palace.

Diller Scofidio + Renfro were tapped to transform the palace’s courtyard with their first-ever Italian installation, supported by a select group of furniture manufacturers, including Living Divani. Using 300 pairs of jeans, stretched out and connected by the waist and cuffs, DS+R created a denim canopy that stretched over the yard and safeguarded against the rain.

Beneath the canopy, installed 49 individual elements of its modular sofa. Assembled in a variety of geometric configurations, the elements provided a comfortable seat from which visitors could contemplate DS+R’s installation.

In a secondary courtyard, architect and interior stylist led the creative direction of Bistro Litta 24 — two summery lounge areas near an on-site restaurant and bar. Ossino used pieces from Living Divani’s collection of casual yet elegant outdoor furniture to populate the space, including the outdoor versions of the sofa and daybed, designed by David Lopez Quincoces and released in 2016, which comprised the majority of the seating.

The slim profile and clean lines of both the regular, tubular frame and the waxed cord version — both on display at the Palazzo — imbued the historic courtyard with a sense of modernity. Decorative cushions in shades of lemon, lime and turquoise enhanced the white upholstery.

Alongside the Agra, Living Divani unveiled , a brand new rocking chair characterized by an ultra-light and slender steel frame. Designed by Shibuleru, a San Francisco-based studio, the chair is available for indoor and outdoor settings and in a variety of upholstery options — including the cheerful yellow-green hue displayed at Palazzo Litta.
