In Madrid, we take a look inside Langarita-Navarro‘s MediaLab-Prado, a former sawmill transformed into a dynamic space, housing workshops, residences and multimedia experimentation, that engages the public to think like inventors. In Toronto, we savour the richly textured bakery Sud Forno, run by the Terroni Group and designed by Giannone Petricone. In Vancouver, we report on the new digs – a cabin-chic office from local firm SSDG – of leading tech firm HootSuite.
Along with our interiors, we showcase several hot architecture projects, including Jakob + MacFarlane‘s FRAC Centre in Orléans; the headquarters of Swiss media giant Tamedia, designed by Shigeru Ban; and the Longen Schloder Winery in Germany’s Moselle Valley, where Matteo Thun has created simple yet sophisticated visitor cabins. We also profile the increasingly prolific Chinese architecture and design studio Neri&Hu.
Other highlights from the issue: Alexander McQueen’s stunning floral and fauna home accessories for The Rug Company; the latest high-design espresso machines; eco-friendly fireplaces, stoves and rads; and our annual gift guide, packed with 28 great ideas inspired by four modern-classic chairs.
