Losanges, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec’s stunning new carpet collection for manufacturer Nanimarquina, launches next week at Maison&Objet.

“We have always been captivated by the traditional Persian rug, especially by the very old kilim savoir faire, which we see as a delicate mix of rusticity and fineness.” This is how the Parisian brothers describe their new line, created in collaboration with craftsmen in northern Pakistan.

The handcrafted rugs – shaped like asymetrical, ragged-edged octogons – combine 13 colours. The craftsmen use a process of hand-spinning Afghan wool, so that various tones are highlighted. According to the Bouroullecs, this subtly random technique also makes each of the pattern’s lozenges slightly different. And it ensures that each carpet is unique.

The collection is being presented at in Paris, running January 21 to 25. Drop by the booth (Hall 8 F36) to see the collection and you might just run into the , who will be there with Nani Marquina for cocktail hour at 5 p.m., January 21.
