We are in search of a Senior Architectural Designer. They will assist in the development of the firm’s growing portfolio of inspirational architecture, in a way that adheres to our clients’ budgets, schedules, program and performance criteria. Therefore, the candidate must be a proven problem solver, and demonstrate creative, technical, communications and leadership skills with a history leading a design team. The senior designer should demonstrate their experience developing design concepts for multiple projects, specifically initiating design concepts for complex mixed use residential and high rise condominium projects and leading these projects at all stages from client, municipal and public presentations, zoning and SPA processes.

Qualifications include:

  • 10+ years’ experience required
  • Master’s Degree, Architecture
  • OAA or potential to be licensed
  • Proficiency with BIM (REVIT), Sketchup, AutoCAD, Power Point, Bluebeam, Word and Excel
  • Desirable to also be familiar with Microsoft Project, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
  • Ability to hand sketch
  • Leadership, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Significant understanding of sustainable design principles
  • Experience in all phases of design, including concept design, design development, construction documents and contract administration
  • Self-Motivated
  • Capable of thriving in a fast paced environment
  • Enthusiastic

Duties include

Initiate architectural design concepts and site plans

Lead design teams and provide oversight to the design as it evolves through all phases of design and construction documentation and integrating sustainable design concepts, as applicable throughout

Embed sustainable design principles into the design concepts

Review client/architect agreements, architect/consultant agreements and coordinate with all specialty consultants

Review project schedules and related project documentation

Lead design team meetings and presentations

Attend consultant coordination meetings as required

Maintain effective communication directly with the client and authorities having jurisdiction and coordinate with project managers

Ensure Revit and Sketch-up Standards, quality assurance and quality control procedures are followed during drawing planning and design

Influence, assist in developing and designing to specific project budgets and client defined success criteria

Provide assistance to the construction administrator as required for ensure design intent is realized during construction

Coordinate project information and work with all internal and/or external disciplines including but not limited architectural, electrical, geotechnical and civil as required Design Portfolio
